“At this crossroads in my journey, when my broken heart was longing to exist between the infinite unity of the Now and the Eternal, I was searching for answers in the Egyptian book of the dead. For reasons beyond my reason, the image of a lotus flower over an offering table struck my soul. I started unconsciously scribing different renderings of its likeness on every page of my diary. This tapis is named after NEFERATEM, the god of the water lily, his paradoxical translation, is possibly “ the beautiful one who closes" or “the one who does not close”; he mirrors the infinite state of living: of being born and dying and reborn again. To this day, I keep an ofrenda altar in my bedroom to keep all those I have love who have past close to me. On one side this Tapis, depicts the offering table we lay out for our past loved ones, on the other, it reveals their faces looking back at us.”
