GORA
Studio Rö is proud to support and present the first live-streamed edition of GORA, the latest multidisciplinary project by multimedia artist and fashion designer Matteo Melotto, broadcast live for the first time on 11 July at 17:00 (Milan time) from Helsinki, Finland.
Developed during Melotto's artistic residency in Finland and supported by FORUM BOX, the Goethe-Institut and Culture Moves Europe, GORA explores the intersections between body, ritual, landscape, memory and technology through performance, textile installation, sound and moving image.
Inspired by Finno-Ugric traditions and post-spiritual narratives, the project transforms the body into a living archive and a threshold between the ancestral and the posthuman. Through monumental textiles, immersive soundscapes and durational performance, Melotto invites audiences into a contemplative space where silence, transformation and symbolic reconstruction unfold in real time.
The evening brings together three interconnected works:
AIHARA, a filmed performance in the Finnish landscape where the artist traverses nature wearing an eleven-metre white textile that gradually absorbs the traces of earth, moss and vegetation.
HEGRA, an immersive sound composition blending field recordings, poetry, artificial voices and electronic textures.
GORA, a site-specific live performance and large-scale textile installation in which the artist inhabits a suspended ritual environment of fabric, ropes and silence.
Presented at Forum Box in Helsinki, this marks the first time the project will be accessible internationally through a live broadcast, allowing viewers to experience the performance simultaneously across borders.
