Paean III
Paean III is the more intimate counterpart in a pair of sculptural light columns created exclusively by Sfossils for Studio RÖ’s exhibition during Milan Design Week 2025.
This singular piece stands as a refined totem of craftsmanship and experimentation, composed of three uniquely glazed ceramic stems. Each features a distinct surface: one foamed, one cratered, one textured with a mist-like glaze — like skin reacting to cold air. As the integrated light source cascades down the forms, it reveals a rich and unexpected depth of materiality.
The metal armature, developed using molten copper sprayed onto stainless steel tubing, gives a raw, sand-like texture that is softened by a matte white finish. This tension between organic irregularity and minimalist refinement is emblematic of Seymour’s practice, which blurs the lines between sculpture, design, and craft.
As the “younger sibling” to the larger Paean II, this smaller version holds its own poetic presence — a quiet yet striking reflection on form, light, and the sacred act of making.
Made for one moment, one place, and one collaboration — Paean III is a unique, unreproducible piece.
